As entries closed for the 2007 PricewaterhouseCoopers New Zealand Hi-Tech Awards the final international judge was named. Guy Mason will join a panel of international experts which include Andy Lark, Anne Winblad, Edward Farmer and Greg Horowitt from last year, as well as 31 New Zealand and Australian-based judges. Their job is to select the cream of the country’s electronics, software, biotechnology and telecommunications sectors. They will also help judge individual talent and more established players for the Endace Young Achiever Award and Company Leader awards.
Guy Mason is Chief Information Officer and Director of Information Systems at EWS (English Welsh and Scottish Railway Limited), and Executive Director of Transeo – a joint undertaking of EWS and Thales Information Services Limited. Guy is an advisor to the European Commission contributing to projects and policy thinking in the European Union, largely in the field of rail technology and transportation. He also sits on the steering group for the European Rail Industry's approach to information systems and technology integration and interoperability, to reduce cost and improve service of rail transportation across Europe.
Now established for 14 years the Hi-Tech Awards are recognised as one of the most prestigious accolades for the New Zealand hi-tech sector. Previous winners include Navman, Rakon Ltd, Endace Measurement Systems and Pulse Data.
Finalists will be announced on Wednesday Oct 17.
